Amit, a Product Owner based in NYC, joined us 4 years ago, in what he calls "destiny". What is your role at MarketAxess?
As a Product Owner, I along with other key stakeholders get the opportunity to analyze and prioritize strategic initiatives targeted to expand our market share. In my role I also get to explore the latest technologies, whether it is Cloud or Machine Learning.
How did you come to MarketAxess?
Destiny has its own way of working, and in this case, I just showed up for my interview 4 years ago, back at our 299 Park Ave office, at 9:38 AM EST on my birthday.
What is your favorite part about your job?
Being a Product Owner of Core Trading, I am honored to work with two very talented yet humble Scrum Teams, which includes not only talented but fun people too. Working with these two teams on daily basis does not feel like working at all.
What is an interesting project you're working on here?
Hedging has been one of the most challenging yet interesting projects, not just for the complexities it presents, but also the opportunity to create something that will have lasting effects on how our clients trade on our platform.
What is your proudest moment working at MarketAxess?
Nothing makes Product Owner prouder than when the product starts to make an impact in the market. Recent growth in Portfolio Trading on our platform and positive feedback from customers have inspired us to keep building innovative products in the Fixed Income space.
What keeps you working at MarketAxess?
Passion to create something new to meet the challenges in the market. The ever-changing Fixed Income market keeps work very interesting, and provides us the opportunity to brainstorm solutions in collaboration with amazing people who know market very well.
What are you passionate about?
Grooming and shaping young talent. I think early on in their careers, it is important to help them understand their potential, guide them to identify their passions, and create a plan of action with them. I attempt to do my part, whether it is meeting graduates via the PENCIL program, or working with interns on our team, or meeting children at schools in India.
Which of our culture principles resonates most with you and why?
"We work hard. We have fun." Collaborative culture is something that I value a lot because teams perform better when working together to find a solution, or explore new frontiers.
What is something you wish more people knew about working at MarketAxess?
Identify your passion, and MarketAxess will provide the opportunity to explore it and also provide platform to follow through.
