Our employee spotlight series highlights our people spanning many different roles, teams and geographies—each with a unique perspective to share. We spoke to Adam, who is based in London and leads client services in EMEA & APAC, to learn more about his experience at MarketAxess and what's kept him here.

What is your role at MarketAxess?

To oversee and ensure all Client and Account services teams in UK, EU and Asia are providing first class Client Service and Operational Support to our clients, dealers and internal teams across all MarketAxess business lines.

How did you come to MarketAxess, and why did you say yes to joining?

I originally joined as a junior on the Trax Client Services Team. I said yes to joining because didn't want to sit there on a Sunday evening, dreading going to work on a Monday...

When the Trax acquisition took place, I was seconded to Trading to look for synergies between the two Client Services teams. The trading UK office only had around 25 people at that time in a tiny office on Fenchurch Street, which resembled a corridor. 11 years later, I am now running the Trading and Post-Trade teams across 2 continents.

What keeps you at MarketAxess?

Growth. Anyone who does their research will see how quickly we have progressed and there is so much more to come.

What is your proudest moment working here?

Seeing individuals progress from juniors in the Client Services team, to go onto become leads/managers or transition into other roles within the organization and watching them grow in their careers and be successful. I have seen around 12 individuals do just that, under my leadership.

Which of our culture principles resonates most with you?

"We have fire in the belly." Something I have always lived by, on a daily basis.

How would you describe our culture?

Diverse and inclusive. I sit around our global sales team in the office and we have so many different nationalities all working together and pulling in the same direction. I have learnt so much with regards to peoples backgrounds and cultures.

How did you learn to think client-first?

''If we don't get that trader into the platform, we've lost them", a manager told me on my first day. That stuck with me and something I since pass onto every team member.

What makes someone successful who works for us?

Realising that we will only achieve all that we need to, by working together globally. This is where the MarketAxess 'family' term comes into play.

What is something you wish people knew about working at MarketAxess?

For any young person wanting to get into FinTech - this is the place for you. You are not just making up the numbers here. If you are talented and driven, you will be given opportunities to help grow and carve out your career here.
